How to care for gold and silver jewellery

A little care keeps jewellery bright for years.

Cleaning

• Wipe silver with a soft polishing cloth. It removes darkening without scratching.
• Wash gold gently in warm water with a drop of mild soap, then dry with a soft cloth.

Storage

• Store pieces separately in a soft pouch or box so they do not scratch each other.
• Keep silver away from damp places; it darkens more slowly when dry.

What to avoid

• Take jewellery off for swimming, cleaning with chemicals and heavy exercise.
• Put perfume and creams on first, jewellery last.
