18K gold vs 925 silver: which should you choose?

Both metals make beautiful, long-lasting jewellery. The right one depends on how you will wear it and your budget.

18K gold

18K gold is 75% pure gold mixed with other metals for strength. It keeps its warm colour, does not tarnish and suits rings, chains and pieces worn every day. It costs more than silver.

925 silver

925 sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver. It has a bright, cool shine and is a lovely choice for gifts, bracelets, engraved pieces and everyday style at a gentler price. Silver can darken with time, which a soft polishing cloth removes.

Which one for a gift?

For a name bracelet or a first piece of jewellery, silver is popular. For a milestone such as an engagement or a wedding, many choose gold.
